How to test a substance you suspect is mould
Using the sampling swab included in the kit, sample the substance you suspect is mould, then swab the culture medium in the kit. If there is nothing visible growing in the culture medium in three to seven days, the substance you sampled is not living, growing mould. If you see mould growing in the medium after approximately three to seven days, the substance is living, growing mould. At that time, you have the option of sending the kit back to Home Mold Laboratory for further analysis.

How to perform an air quality test
For each room of your home you wish to test, place one Viable Mould Test Kit in the room and another outdoors near the room with the lids open. After one hour, close the lids on the kits. If mould is present in your environment, you will see mould growing in the kits after about three to seven days. Compare the indoor kits with the outdoor kit, looking for differences in types of mould or quantity of mould. If you have different types of mould growing in the indoor kits than in the outdoor kit or if you have more mould growing in the indoor kits than in the outdoor kit, Home Mold Laboratory recommends that you send the kits back to our laboratory for analysis.

How to test your heating and cooling system
Carefully affix the Viable Mould Test Kit to the air vent that is furthest from the heating and cooling system. After making sure that all other vents are closed, turn the system on high for ten minutes. Remove and close the Viable Mould Test Kit. If mould is present in heating and cooling system, you will see mould growing in the kit after about three to seven days. If more than a few spots of mould are growing in the kit, Home Mold Laboratory recommends that you send the kit back to our laboratory for analysis.
When you return your sample, we will analyze it in our state-of-the-art laboratory to identify the types and quantity of mould present. Your test results will also tell you whether the mould is allergenic, pathogenic or toxigenic. When you receive your results, call us for a phone consultation to determine a course of action.
This cost-effective option provides an accurate and reliable laboratory analysis, and is available for only $30.00 per kit submitted. Complete details on how to order a laboratory analysis will be included with your Viable Mould Test Kit order.
